The Oniseese, also known as Oyo State’s traditional religious adherents, have endorsed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the All Progressives Congress (APCpresidential )’s candidate for 2023.
At a conference held on Saturday at the Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort in Akanran, Ibadan, traditionalists from all seven of the state’s political parties endorsed Tinubu.
The meeting, which was presided over by Olukunmi Egbelade, the Aare Oniseese of Oyo State, noted that the action had become imperative for the APC presidential candidate to win the election.
It will be recalled that within the previous two weeks, members of the state’s Muslim and Christian communities gathered at the same location, prayed, and supported Tinubu for president.
Olukunmi Egbelade, the Aare Oniseese of Oyo State, said in his speech on the occasion that the traditionalists prayed and supported Tinubu for Yorubaland’s peace, unity, growth, and development.
He added that it was time for the Yoruba to be in charge of the country’s affairs and that the Yoruba would gain greatly if their kin were elected president.
When Tinubu becomes president of Nigeria, Egbelade encouraged him to proclaim a national holiday for the country’s traditional worshipers.
In his remarks, Chief Kazeem Omotosho stressed that the Yoruba should not suffer any setbacks in the upcoming elections and that it is important to emphasize their strategic role in Nigerian politics.
Some people think we are uneducated, he said. We don’t know God, so they claim. But we have a stronger faith in God than they do. Many Muslim and Christian clergymen passed through us.
The purpose of the occasion, according to Chief Dotun Sanusi, Chief Executive Officer of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, who was represented by Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, was to exhibit love and support for the APC presidential candidate, who is a prominent contender in the upcoming general elections.
Akinade asserts that Sanusi is simply a businessman and philanthropist who has always used his money to meet the needs of society. He denies being a politician and denying that he is running for any office.
He is not a supporter of the APC or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). But he is passionate about anything that will help Yorubaland advance and thrive.
We have an issue with insecurity. The issue of unemployment exists. We have issues with leadership and many others. The government of President Muhammadu Buhari is coming to an end. We cannot claim that he did nothing. He gave it his best shot. We will hold another election in the coming months.
We’re here today because we need to make sensible decisions. Without being overly modest, I would want to say that Asiwaju stands out among the top candidates based on my investigation into their qualifications.
The Araba Awo of Ibadanland, Chief Odegbami Ifalere, the Head of Eleegun (Masquerades) in Ibadanland, Chief Oyeniyi Okugbaja, the Iya Sango of the world, Chief Mrs. Odeleye, and the representative of Oluawo of Oyo, Adejare Ifadare, were prominent traditional worshipers present.
