2023: Why Peter Obi left PDP for Labour Party – Keyamo

Festus Keyamo (SAN), the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), stated that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May “out of personal frustration when he was muzzled out.”

According to Keyamo, who is also the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Obi and the Labour Party are merely posing as “new breeds” to gain attention.

“For the record, Peter Obi did not leave the PDP due to moral convictions; rather, he departed due to personal resentment over being silenced.

Because of this, he has been compared to a mentally disabled person who has just been transferred to a new facility and has been immediately deemed fit without therapy. Millions of Nigerians are being insulted, Keyamo told Daily Independent.

Between 2006 until 2014, Obi served as the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s governor of Anambra State (APGA).

He switched over to the PDP in October 2014, seven months after turning over to Wille Obiano.
This year, the former governor ran for president in the PDP.

A few days before the PDP’s presidential primary, he announced his resignation from the party, citing party policies that were at odds with his “belief and persona.”

He left the Republican Party and joined the Labour Party, eventually running for president in 2023.
