AFCON 2023: 12 countries qualify for tournament in Ivory Coast
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will feature at least 12 qualified nations.
This comes after the conclusion of this weekend’s qualifying matches.
Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria have reserved their spots in Group A.
Guinea-Bissau defeated Sao Tome & Principe 1-0, while the Super Eagles defeated Sierra Leone 3-2.
In addition to South Africa, Zambia also qualified for the COSAFA finals.
On Matchday 5, Egypt and Equatorial Guinea also achieved qualification.
As hosts, Ivory Coast secured their spot in the finals competition. Senegal, the defending champions, Morocco, Algeria, Burkina Faso, and Tunisia round out the field.
To compete in the championship tournament, a total of 24 teams will qualify.
Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Libya, Liberia, the Comoros, South Sudan, and Sao Tome & Principe have already been eliminated from the competition.
