AFCON: Don’t watch us on TV anymore – Super Eagles captain, Musa sends message to Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been encouraged by Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa to attend the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, in Ivory Coast instead of continuing to follow the team on television.

Musa made this statement on behalf of the Super Eagles players on Wednesday during the team’s Zoom meeting with Sen. John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development.

The former forward for Leicester City also thanked Enoh for motivating the Super Eagles ahead of their AFCON Round of 16 matchup with Cameroon on Saturday night.

Musa declared: “We are going to convey a message to the President through you, Enoh.

“We want him to come here [to the Ivory Coast] and support us together instead of watching the game on TV anymore.” Here is our personal message to the President, then.

“The president will come,” Enoh replied. I promise that the president will arrive. He has given me his preferred time of arrival, and I hope that we will eventually reach a stage where the President is able to make his visit. He’ll show up. “I’ll bring the president; he’s coming,” he promised.

“In the end, we truly appreciate your words of encouragement to the team, thank you,” Musa remarked.

Nigeria placed second in Group A, trailing only Equatorial Guinea, the winners.

With two victories and one tie thus far in the competition, Peseiro’s team is still undefeated.
