Mateu Lahoz, the referee between Argentina and the Netherlands, was expelled by FIFA.
Mateu Lahoz, the referee, has been dismissed and will no longer officiate in the World Cup.
Lahoz will not be presiding over any of the remaining World Cup matches since he is “heading home from Qatar.”
In the fierce quarterfinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands, the referee reportedly issued a record-breaking 15 yellow cards.
Both teams did not think highly of Lahoz’s performance, with Argentina’s players particularly vociferous about his officiating.
