ASKOMP Secretary, Oyewale Oyelola Elected As NGIJ Vice President

The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) has chosen Oyewale Oyelola, Secretary of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP), as its Vice President 1.

The results of the virtual election held on August 3, 2024, were declared by Olalekan Oladigbo, the chairman of the NGIJ National Electoral Committee. With five-seven percent of the vote, Mallam AbdulRahman Aliagan won the presidency seat.

Oyelola will hold the position of Vice President 1 – Administration & Communications Strategy. She is also the Editor of Factualtimes-Ng and a lecturer at Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti. He will take up the responsibility of ASKOMP’s first Secretary for the next two years.

Additional elected members of the executive branch are Ifeoma Ikem, the auditor, Rowland Shuwa, the general secretary, Gbenga Shaba, the vice president of investigations, Comrade James Ezema, and Abdullahi Gulloma, the public relations officer.

The NGIJ is anticipated to be led by the new executives in advancing investigative journalism and maintaining the greatest standards of media ethics in Nigeria.
