ASUU President breaks silence about the half payment of salaries to University lecturers

According to reports, the Federal Government of Nigeria has paid half salaries to the lecturers under the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The salary is said to be for the month of October.
Some academic staff members who received their half salaries for the month of October confirmed to Punch News that they received half payment for the month of October and that nothing has even been said about the backlog unpaid salaries.
While reacting to the development, the National President of the Union, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke confirmed that the academic staff truly received half payment of their salaries.
Professor Osodeke added that they are yet to receive any explanation from the Federal Government in regard to the half payment but that they learnt that the Federal minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige wrote a letter to the officer of the Accountant General that the lecturers should be paid only for the time they called off the strike.
