Breaking: Kwara State College of Education Ilorin order Closure of School Till Further Notice
Following the directives of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and the Governing Council of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, I hereby announce immediate suspension of all academic activities in the College till further notice.
The decision is premised on the unruly behaviour of the students that led to the vandilisation of some public and individual properties. The unfortunate behaviour of the students were demonstrated in the presence of the Honourable Commissioner of Tertiary Education Dr. Afees Abolore ALABI when he visited the College to address some minor management issues rocking the college, which have nothing to do with the State Government. Sadly, some students who are yet to pay their school fees and those with ulterior motives took advantage of the situation to disrupt the ongoing second semester examination of the college.
The college is truly being subvented by the State Government. The government is up-to-date in giving agreed subvention to the College. However, the College has not been able to raise enough funds on its own to meet its own targets. The school then requires further bailout in form of loan from the Government with the understanding that it will be repaid upon full payments of school fees by the students. This bailout is needed to underwrite some pending obligations.
It is important to note that the kind consideration of this request has been granted and the processes have since begun before the unfortunate incident.
Parents and guardians are hereby urged to advise their children and wards to shun all acts that can lead to further breach of the peace in the College and its environs.
Consequently, all students are to vacate the College with immediate effect.
