BREAKING: Man Utd sign €100m Brazil star

Manchester United have now confirmed the €100 million (R1.6 billion) signing of a Brazil star on a long-term deal.

After a number of fruitless pursuits in the current window, including Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot, United have now landed one of their main transfer targets, Antony from Ajax Amsterdam.

This fee is bettered only by Paul Pogba in the Manchester club’s history, whose €105 million (R1.7 billion) switch from Juventus to Old Trafford in 2016 remains United’s record transfer.

“Manchester United has reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Antony, subject to a medical, player terms being finalised, and international clearance,” a statement on the club’s official website confirmed.

“Antony has 31 goals and 27 assists in 134 club appearances for Ajax and Sao Paulo, and two goals and two assists in nine senior appearances for his native Brazil.
