Christmas celebration: Nigerians living in dark times -NLC

Nigerians are presently experiencing “dark times,” according to a Christmas message released on Friday in Abuja by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
The message, which was signed by Ayuba Wabba, the national president of the congress, lamented the subpar living circumstances of the nation’s workers.
Additionally, the union exhorted believers to “resonate the light of hope birthed through Jesus Christ.”
“This Christmas, we urge Nigerian workers and citizens to vibrate in the light of hope engendered by the love of God revealed through the birth of His son Jesus Christ,” the statement said in part. It is the illumination of this hope that gives us the assurance that, no matter how dark our national night may be, light will undoubtedly arise and shine at some point.
Many Nigerian employees and everyday citizens are currently suffering through the dark tunnel of skyrocketing inflation, which is accompanied by extremely sharp increases in the cost of necessities. Various Nigerian families are suffering from widespread anxiety about their personal safety and security as thieves and terrorists rule many regions of the nation, robbing, killing, kidnapping, and looting. During this Christmas season, a large number of Nigerians will be traveling, and they will be doing so through a tunnel of damaged infrastructure, particularly highways.
Christmas would be celebrated with beautiful illumination in many cities, towns, and villages around the world as a result of stable public electricity supply, while many Nigerians would struggle with long lines to buy gasoline to run their generators.
In the middle of a deepening bay of darkness, it is challenging to keep pleading with Nigerian workers and everyday citizens to hold on to the life buoy of hope. But Christmas’ beautiful message is one of optimism. Knowing that the darkest nights typically give rise to the brightest mornings is only prudent. The best morning for Nigeria, in our opinion, is just around the corner.
The NLC leader went on to advise Nigerian workers to exercise caution throughout the 2023 election cycle. The general elections in 2023 will be the country’s next major event after this Christmas. The chance to choose a new group of political leaders is the greatest sign of hope.
The political candle of hope is lighted by political leadership. Every nation would experience ups and downs depending on its choice of political leadership. Nigeria is no different.

We admonish our countrymen, particularly the workforce, to participate in politics with great caution starting in 2023. Election season is the ideal time to think critically and make informed decisions. Workers must support political party candidates who are dedicated to providing light at the end of the tunnels of economic downturns marked by skyrocketing inflation, pervasive insecurity, deepening poverty, escalating unemployment crises, particularly among our country’s youth demographic, decrepit physical infrastructure, and flagrant corruption in high places.
