CSU certificate: Group urges NASS to probe Tinubu

The United Global Resolve for Peace has requested that President Bola Tinubu’s educational credentials from Chicago State University be investigated by the National Assembly. They note that this investigation will not only be about justice but also about upholding the rule of law and transparency.
Shalom Olaseni, the chairman of the UGRFP, made the demand in a statement on Thursday, warning that allowing the dispute to continue might have serious repercussions for the country’s reputation both locally and internationally.
The UGRFP further requests that this situation be treated seriously by the National Assembly, which represents Nigeria’s legislative power. In addition to being a matter of justice, a thorough, fair, and quick investigation shows our dedication to the rule of law and openness, Olaseni said.
Asserting that Nigeria’s reputation, both domestically and abroad, depends on citizens’ collective ability to address the allegations surrounding President Tinubu’s certificate with absolute transparency and integrity, the group also issued a warning against incendiary and ill-motivated antics by some elements to use the issue to settle political scores against the President.
However, it urged the President to speak to Nigerians and offer “irrefutable evidence” to support the validity of his degree from the CSU, saying that doing so was crucial for maintaining public confidence in the country’s leadership.
He added that some of the responses to the controversy surrounding the President’s allegedly forged degree from Chicago State University were alarming and held the risk of letting the matter be undermined by “caricature, bants, and vindictive motives,” which is why it was necessary to protect Nigeria’s reputation and credibility.
“We note with growing concern how allegations of President Tinubu presenting a forged school transcript from Chicago State University to the Independent National Electoral Commission has sparked a whirlwind of media attention, both locally and on the international stage,” Olaseni continued. UGRFP acknowledges that such claims are serious and, if unresolved, could have a negative impact on Nigeria’s reputation both locally and internationally.
The President owes it to the Nigerian people to present indisputable proof that his claimed educational credentials are legitimate because he is the custodian of our country’s leadership. Being transparent is not just expected; it is necessary to maintain confidence in our leadership.
President Tinubu runs the risk of weakening the fundamental basis of Nigeria’s democracy by refusing to address claims of this nature and so conveying the wrong message that integrity and accountability may be compromised with impunity.
