D’Banj honored our invitation in relation to the N-Power petition, we didn’t arrest him -ICPC

Oladipo-Daniel Oyebanjo, also known as D’Banj, was reportedly greeted at the headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of N-Power program funding.

According to the commission, D’Banj originally declined invitations after receiving several of them in response to a petition from some unidentified petitioners, but finally relented on Tuesday and showed up to explain his involvement in the situation.

In a statement, spokeswoman Azuka Ogugua claimed that Oyebanjo “gave himself in and was taken into jail at the ICPC Headquarters on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, and is currently assisting the investigators to unravel the facts of the fraud claims by the petitioners.”

She claimed that despite the federal government’s payment, several N-Power beneficiaries had expressed dissatisfaction about not receiving their monthly stipends.

The ICPC has invited about 10 people in recent months in relation to the N-Power fraud, and following their detention, they were given administrative bail.

“Oyebanjo received several invitations to appear before a team of investigators, but none of them were honored.

“The investigation will be thorough and broadened to include additional fraud collaborators as well as the banks holding the beneficiary accounts.

In light of the numerous reports in the media, this press release has become necessary, according to Ms. Ogugua.

President Muhammadu Buhari launched the N-Power program on June 8, 2016, with the goal of empowering unemployed graduates.
