However, during the process of briefing local news reporters about the occurrence via a statement report,Ali stated that the gang’s specialty is by robbing unsuspecting victims of their possessions and prized items while they posing themselves as tricycle operators throughout the state.

He added, “in a bid to get rid of the syndicate who uses tricycles to rob passengers of their valuables, phones, hack into their accounts and withdraw their money.I directed the command’s D-Coy squad to investigate and ensure that members of the syndicate are arrested and brought to book”.

Additionally,”in compliance with my directive, the team embarked on an intelligence led investigation, stormed their hideout behind Point Hotel in Iyiagu Estate, in Anambra State, and arrested one Ikechukwu Ayigbe, 26, who is the gang’s bank account hacker”.

“Others arrested were Tobi James, 30, who buys the stolen phones and waybills them to Lagos, and seven other suspects, with over 60 SIM cards recovered”,the CP recalled.

Furthermore,Ali, who affirmed that a discreet inquiry is underway to bring the criminals to justice, issuing a mandate to all citizens and residents of the state for their help to the security authorities achieve this objectives,adding that the police cannot do it all singlehandedly but with the help of law abiding civilians,we have a greater chance.

Meanwhile,he tasked the general public to supply the command with relevant information that would be helpful in it’s effort to curb all criminal elements across the state, and he emphasizing that the police will professionally keep the identities of all informants confidential.
