Emefiele: Hold those responsible for fight between DSS, prison officers – SERAP to Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has been urged to hold individuals accountable for the battle between members of the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Correctional Service by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, or SERAP.
Following the trial of Godwin Emefiele, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, before the Federal High Court in Lagos, DSS agents and jail guards got into a fight.
A court presided over by Justice Nicolas Oweibo granted Emefiele bail in the amount of N20 million and a surety in the same amount.
After the DSS filed two counts of allegations involving the illegal possession of guns, this occurred.
Following the court procedures, the correctional services personnel were transporting him to their facility when DSS intervened and forcibly removed him.
During that time, a brawl broke out between the two security guards in front of the court.
SERAP responded by urging the Tinubu administration to abide by the court’s decision to grant Emefiele bail.
“BREAKING: The Tinubu administration must hold to account those responsible for the fight between the DSS and prison officials over the custody of Emefiele,” said SERAP in a tweet.
The administration must obey the court order granting him bail, and end the attack on the integrity of our justice system.”
