Ex-Oyo deputy gov residence, others damaged in Ibadan explosion

One of the people who have been forced from their homes as a result of the explosion that happened on Tuesday in a portion of Ibadan, the state capital, is Chief Iyiola Oladokun, a former deputy governor of Oyo State.
Under the Alliance for Democracy Party, the Oke-Ogun politician served as the late Governor Lam Ona-Olapo Adesina’s deputy from 1999 until 2003.
A local news outlet reported that Barrister Oladokun, a well-liked member of the ruling All Progressives Congress and a close ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his family are currently staying with a relative.
According to a source close to the politician, Oladokun’s multistory structure, which is near to Dejo Oyelese Street, was severely damaged.
“Nobody is sure if the foundation of the building will still be okay after being jolted by the unexpected explosion,” the insider stated, so he must leave the building.
We also learned from another source that the residence of the late Chief Bola Ige, the former Attorney General of the Federation, was impacted.
According to an unaffiliated source, he noticed that the majority of the building’s windows were broken.
The Oladokuns are roughly 600 meters away from Bola Ige’s residence.
On Tuesday night, the Oyo State Police Command verified the explosion and the ongoing search and rescue operation.
The platform reported that Bola Okanlawon, interim chairperson of Oyo NAWOJ, actress Bimbo Osin, Comrade Kunle Famoriyo of Afenifere Renewal fame, Oba Kola Adegbola, and other well-known state residents whose properties were reportedly affected by the explosion were among those residing around Wole Oyelese Street.
“All security service chiefs, including paramilitary chiefs and fire operatives, have been deployed by the governor to rein in the spillover from the explosion,” the state government stated in a statement issued through its information commissioner.
Bayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo State, paid a visit to the explosion site late on Tuesday evening.
