Fuel subsidy removal: I feel your pain, sacrifice a little more – Tinubu begs Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that the recent elimination of the fuel subsidy has put the general populace through hardship.

In his first Democracy Day speech to Nigerians, Tinubu stressed that while he understands the suffering of the people, greater sacrifices must be made on their part for the benefit of the entire country.

The president claimed that the temporary discomfort brought on by the subsidy reduction was vital to prevent the nation from imploding.

I understand your pain, he said. To prevent our nation from imploding and free our resources from the control of a few unpatriotic individuals, we must make this choice.

I admit that the decision will impose an extra burden on the masses of our people. Painfully, I have asked you, my compatriots, to sacrifice a little more for the survival of our country”.
