Governors embezzle money from LG, says Buhari
According to President Muhammadu Buhari, state governors take from federal funding provided to local government councils.
Buhari stated following his remarks at the Thursday State House presidential debate for the Senior Executive Course 44 (2022) of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
The president emphasized the importance of individual integrity in governing.
He recalled a situation where a state governor would accept funding on behalf of his state’s council regions, but would then send half of that funding to the council chairmen.
According to Buhari, these actions demonstrated the type of corrupt behavior that is currently characteristic of Nigeria in the distribution of funds intended for local council administrations, hurting development.
He complimented the Senior Executive Course 44 participants for completing their program successfully.
Buhari tasked them with revitalizing and reviving leadership at the many levels of institutions.
