Hope for Brighter Lights: FG Govt Forms Committee to Tackle Power Outages

In a bid to tackle nationwide blackouts, the Nigerian government has formed a committee, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu announced Friday. This follows a meeting with electricity companies where gas supply shortages were identified as the primary culprit.
Adelabu stressed the need for power generation companies (GenCos) to secure consistent gas supplies through contractual agreements. Recognizing the urgency, he revealed plans to collaborate with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources to prioritize gas allocation to the power sector.
“A committee involving all stakeholders has been formed to address gas supply and liquidity challenges,” Adelabu stated. “We will work towards recommendations for a more reliable and consistent power supply for our citizens.”
This initiative offers a glimmer of hope for Nigerians plagued by power outages. Whether the committee’s efforts will translate to brighter lights across the nation remains to be seen, but the government’s acknowledgement and action mark a positive step forward. (Word count: 199)
