It is very rampaged how the state of South-East is plagued by a surge in cybercrime, armed robbery, kidnapping, domestic crime, extra judicial killings, ritual killings, and banditry. However, while some people are so unfortunate to scrape through these insecurities, some Nigerians were so fortunate to escape from the dens of these perpetrators while many were held.
Newscrescent was gathered this on Sunday, a victim of robbery identified as a Pentecostal Archbishop and Presiding Officer of Unifaith Living Church Incorporated, Paul Hanson, has narrated his ordeal on how he was stripped by armed robbers on his way to Anambra State to consecrate a Bishop-elect named Norman Okeorimili, The Punch reports.
Paul Hanson while speaking to journalists during the consecration ceremony of the bishop-elect at Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, revealed that it was still in shock that the armed robbers couldn’t respect the fact that he was a cleric, rather, they whisked him out of his car and stole all his belongings while leaving him without any clothes on.
In his further statements, he noted that the incident happened at Akata Market Square, Orlu, Imo State and immediately he got to their checkpoint, they ordered him out of his car and instructed him to pull off his clothes and every other thing he had on him and left with his car, regalia, rank badge, money, six phones, among other belongings.
He also conveyed that, “This incident happened at Akata, Orlu market square, in Imo State, while I was coming from Akwa Ibom State, to consecrate the Bishop-elect of our church, Norman Okeorimili, in Ogidi. The gunmen asked me to undress my clothes and they only left me with a pant, and after I was naked, they asked me to go and they went away with my phones, clothes and other belongings that included those of my driver, money, regalia, badge rank, among others. It was when I was walking on the road that someone who was going with his car saw me and help me to the nearest police station and that was how I was able to talk to my Divisional Police Officer in Akwa Ibom. However, the attack on me didn’t stop me from consecrating Norman Okeorimili.”
Nevertheless, the Imo state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Micheal Abattam, condemned the action of the armed robbers for taking asking the cleric to unclad before stealing his belongings and also noted that efforts to arrest the suspects is ongoing and they would be charged to court once arrested.
