Inter Miami terminates player’s contract over Messi comments
Nick Marsman, the goalie for Inter Miami, had his contract terminated weeks after he expressed doubts about Lionel Messi joining the team.
Marsman voiced his reservations about the MLS team’s infrastructure in June.
He questioned whether it was adequate to receive a player of Messi’s caliber.
“In my opinion, this club isn’t prepared for Messi’s arrival.
“We have a temporary stadium; there are no fences; people can just stroll on the field. We head to the stadium sans security as well.
“I believe they are not prepared. however, I hope he does,” Marsman said to ESPN.
Messi has scored seven goals in four games for Inter Miami since joining the team last month.
He is tied for fourth after his two goals against FC Dallas in the Leagues Cup round of 16.
