JUNE 12: Kwara Redefined: Celebrating Democracy Under Governor AbdulRazaq – Dr Afees Abolore ALABI
It is crystal clear that, today in Nigeria, we are in the mood of celebrations as we mark two and half decades of uninterrupted system of government made by, for and to our great people of Nigeria as a nation. Congratulations!
As Kwarans and without any form of sentiments or emotions, our dear State of Harmony is witnessing a clear departure into how a true democratic system of government should be operating differently from what it used to be. The era of a leader and a governor who conduct himself as servants of common good and not as viceroys of the narrow interests of the mighty is here with us in Kwara under our visionary and transformative Governor- AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON).
The Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum has been divinely given to us as our number one citizen in Kwara even as we honour all of his approaches to balancing the system of governance in the State by promoting fairness, equity and inclusivity on all fronts. Mallam AbdulRahman Abdulrasaq is demonstrating capacity, capability, consistency, resilience and all in redefining and reevaluating a system of democratic governance in Kwara State.
Under HE AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara is witnessing tremendous achievements and has undergone significant
Transformation in virtually all the sectors thereby strengthening the practice of democracy in the state while also working seamlessly in raising the hopes of an average Nigerian by aligning with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration, fostering unity and peace across Nigeria. All of these, AbdulRahman, has demonstrated in HE’s involvement in some national assignments including being the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
The Governor that I know and which of course a number of us is also aware of, is working with the template that works for all in Kwara State pushing to satisfy all regions, local authorities and tendencies of all divides for our true sense of belonging to be attained and assured and without jeopardising our access to equitable distribution of social economic amenities and infrastructure facilities amongst others.
AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has set a benchmark and standards for set of future leaders coming behind him thereby serving as a model in person and in various kinds of strategic project distributions across the three Senatorial Districts in Kwara State.
As we celebrate and rejoice this moment in Kwara and in Nigeria by extension, I wish and I pray for His Excellencies Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (CON) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for God’s continued guidance while also praying for us all, that may His grace continue to attend to all our efforts as a people, as a State and as a nation.
