Kebbi Officials Rescue Lost Nigerian Pilgrims in Mecca

Three Nigerian pilgrims who became separated from their groups during Hajj were successfully located and reunited by officials from the Kebbi State Government (KGOs). These officials play a vital role in supporting and assisting Nigerian pilgrims performing Hajj in Mecca.

One of the KGOs, Nasir Idris, Executive Director of Kebbi’s Women’s Right Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA), explained how they helped a woman from Kamba Local Government Area who got lost. She strayed too far behind the Kaaba, leading to a different area.

“We, as KGOs, intervened and arranged a taxi service to get her back safely,” said Idris.

Beyond reuniting lost pilgrims, the KGOs offer a range of valuable services. They assist pilgrims facing language barriers by translating and acting as intermediaries. They also provide helpful suggestions to Hajj committees, ensuring a smooth pilgrimage experience for everyone.

“Our support isn’t limited to Kebbi pilgrims,” clarified Idris. “We assist all Nigerians whenever needed. Recently, we helped two women from Bauchi who got separated from their hotel. With our quick intervention, they were back safely.”

Idris emphasized the importance of these humanitarian services throughout Hajj. He urged pilgrims to cooperate and seek assistance when needed.

To avoid getting lost, Idris advised pilgrims to move in groups. He also recommended careful budgeting of their travel allowance and seeking guidance from religious leaders to ensure they perform Hajj rituals correctly.

The KGOs play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and successful Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims. Their dedication to assisting pilgrims, regardless of their origin within Nigeria, demonstrates a commitment to fostering a unified and supported pilgrimage journey for all.
