Kwara Central Senator set to train, empower 200 constituents on dry season farming, horticulture
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has facilitated a capacity-building and empowerment workshop focused on dry season farming and horticultural value chain for youth and women in the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
The training, which will be conducted by the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) in collaboration with Gemstone Integrated Farm Nigeria Ltd, aims to strengthen skills and promote economic growth within the agricultural sector by equipping participants with essential knowledge and tools for success in horticulture.
According to a statement by the Senator’s Media Aide, Nasif Sholagberu, the two-day event will begin on Wednesday, November 13 at the lower Niger River basin Development Authority in Basin, Ilorin and conclude on Thursday, November 14, 2024, with sessions designed to cover key aspects of horticulture.
Senator Mustapha reaffirmed his commitment in supporting local agriculture and providing sustainable opportunities for economic advancement, especially among the youth and women in the district.
He urged participants to attend all sessions promptly to maximize the benefits of the training and access the resources available through the program.
