Kwara State Government Holds Meeting on Waste Management

Senior special assistants on environmental protection to Kwara state governor Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Hon, Mohammed Moshood Mu’azu met with commercial waste management representatives from the Kwara Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) to discuss improved waste collection and disposal methods.

The meeting emphasized the importance of collective action in combating indiscriminate dumping and urged residents to cooperate with environmental officials for a cleaner Kwara State.

In his statement

In keeping with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s pledge to create a cleaner Kwara, I met with the Kwara Environmental Protection Agency’s (KWEPA) Commercial Waste Management team today to remind them of the need of being proactive in the performance of their duties.

The familiarization briefing served as a wake-up call for waste managers, educating them about the need to battle the widespread problem of indiscriminate waste dumping in our society.

As I thanked the staff for their efforts thus far, I also advised them to refrain from any action that could undermine this administration’s environmental protection goal since we need to work together to achieve the intended outcome.

I therefore make a call to the people of Kwara State, especially those living in the Ilorin metropolitan area, to work with the government and environmental officials in order to guarantee that the goal of a cleaner Kwara is realized.
