KWASIEC disobeys court order, denies us access to election documents – PDP chairmanship candidate, Ayodeji, raises alarm
The Chairmanship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ilorin South in the last Kwara State Local Government Election, Muhammed Ayodeji Ismail, has raised alarm over failure of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) to obey court order.
Earlier, the PDP candidate, through his counsel, Barrister Bola Rasaq Gold SAN, has obtained an order from the Election petition Tribunal granting him access to inspect and obtained certified true copies of all polling documents, and other election materials in the custody of the KWASIEC.
Gold, while speaking with the press yesterday, lamented that the KWASIEC did not allow them access into their premises saying the gate man informed him that they have been instructed not to open gate for any lawyer.
The counsel, appealed to the KWASIEC to do the needful for the sake of peace, transparency, fairness and for the purpose of instituting election petition against the last poll which was allegedly marred by irregularities.
Barrister Gold claimed his client won the election into the Ilorin South chairmanship seat because he secured majority of the votes cast but incidentally, his mandate was stolen and he’s ready to reclaim it.
