KWSG Takes Action to Prevent Cholera Outbreak, As Commissioner Engages ASKOMP

Kwara State is taking proactive measures to prevent a potential Cholera outbreak, according to the Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Bola Olukoju. During a meeting with the leadership of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) on Monday, Olukoju announced the inauguration of a Steering Committee dedicated to preventing the spread of the disease. This committee will be officially launched on Thursday, June 27th.
The Commissioner emphasized the state government’s commitment to public health and highlighted ongoing preventive measures. These actions aim to safeguard the well-being of Kwara residents and minimize the risk of an outbreak.
Beyond healthcare initiatives, Olukoju discussed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s strategic investments in infrastructure development. These projects are designed to modernize the state’s image and attract both investors and tourists. The Commissioner envisions Kwara State as a hub for economic activity, and she believes that improved infrastructure is essential to achieving this goal.
“Governor AbdulRazaq is dedicated to building a strong economy for Kwara State,” Olukoju explained. “Investing in infrastructure, such as the construction of an International Conference Center and the remodeling of Kwara Hotel, will make our state more attractive to investors. We can leverage events like the National Bar Association Conference, which is typically held in Abuja, and encourage them to consider Kwara State as a host location.”
Olukoju further elaborated on the economic benefits of these infrastructure projects, citing the Sugar Film Factory and garment factory as successful examples. These initiatives, she explained, will not only bolster the state’s economy but also create both direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The Commissioner expressed a desire to collaborate with ASKOMP in promoting the activities of the state government. She commended the association’s contributions to the state’s economy through job creation and tax payments. However, she also emphasized the importance of upholding ethical journalistic practices.
Earlier in the meeting, ASKOMP Chairman Salihu Shola Taofeek introduced the association, which represents 40 online news platforms operating within Kwara State. He highlighted the association’s positive impact on the state’s economy.
