Man Utd ‘could be banned’ from Europe next season over Ratcliffe’s takeover

The Premier League team, Manchester United, may not be allowed to compete in Europe the next season due to a minority investment made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Additionally, Ratcliffe owns OGC Nice, who are fifth in Ligue 1 right now.

It is implied under UEFA’s regulations regarding multi-club ownership that both clubs would be ineligible to participate in the same competition.

With a minor modification to the regulations, UEFA will permit clubs with joint ownership to participate in several European competitions starting in the upcoming season.

The teams’ inability to compete in the same competition is still prohibited, nevertheless.

“It is true that Nice and Manchester United are unable to compete in the same league.

According to a UEFA insider, “They could play in different competitions, as there is no ‘feeding’ between competitions any more.”
