Manchester United Upsets City to Claim Historic FA Cup Win

In a dramatic upset, Manchester United defeated arch-rivals Manchester City 2-1 to win the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. This victory marks revenge for last year’s final defeat and United’s 13th FA Cup title overall.
Youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were the heroes for United, scoring in the first half. City, despite dominating possession, faltered on defense, allowing Garnacho to tap in an easy opener. Mainoo then added a second with a clinical finish after a well-worked team move.
While City fought back in the second half, a late consolation goal from Jeremy Doku wasn’t enough. United’s defense, usually shaky, held firm to secure a historic win.
This victory not only ends City’s remarkable 35-game unbeaten streak but also marks the first time a team outside the top seven has won the FA Cup against the Premier League champions since 1957.
For United, the FA Cup win brings a trophy to a disappointing league season and secures Europa League qualification next season. Manager Erik ten Hag now boasts two trophies in his tenure, adding to the Carabao Cup victory earlier this year.
