Messi, Mbappe Neymar out of Champions League as Bayern defeat PSG

In the second leg of their round-of-16 match in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), Bayern Munich defeated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 2-0 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

The Bavarians defeated Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in silence thanks to goals from Eric Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry, giving them a 3-0 aggregate victory.

After a lackluster first half, Bayern had a goal disallowed for offside on Thomas Muller in the second half before Choupo-Moting converted from close range to give the home team the lead on the 61st minute.

On the night, Gnabry’s goal off of a cross from Joao Cancelo gave Julian Naggelsmann’s team the victory.

The victory represents Bayern’s third straight over a PSG team that has lost in the UCL’s round of 16 in each of the last three seasons, matching a similar fate endured between 2017 and 2019.

Nonetheless, Bayern is participating in the UCL quarterfinals for the fourth time in a row.

Another match saw AC Milan hold on to grab a 0-0 draw against Tottenham in the second leg to advance 1-0 on the scoreboard.

For the first time in eleven years, the Serie A team has advanced to the quarterfinal stage.
