Nigerian Military decimate the insurgency, Killing 5 ISWAP Commanders And Over 200 Terrorists

It will interest you to note that for some months now, the Nigerian Military has continued to decimate the insurgent and have become more offensive in their approach. Recently, according to the Daily Trust, over 200 members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) including five of their commanders have been killed in joint air and ground operations of the Nigerian armed forces. It will interest you to note that another report from a top military source, disclosed that many terrorists were neutralized in some of their hideouts near Bama in the central part of Borno State.

Between Thursday and Friday, September 1 and 2, the ground troops and the Nigerian Air Force conducted operations on many locations infested by ISWAP terrorists. According to the military, the operations had yielded results as over 200 fighters have been killed and over 70 who fled drowned while trying to cross a river.

According to reports gotten from news, the terrorists were struck severally for over 48 hours, hence the successes recorded by the military. It will interest you to note that the operation was conducted by the Air Force component of the military and troops of 199 special forces and 222 battalions. Hideouts of the terrorists in Sheruri, Gabchari, Mantari, and Mallum Masari were targeted and a well-planned and coordinated attack by aircraft and ground troops was launched. The attack was very successful. Local sources in the areas have confirmed the success of the military as they have been able to return to their homes and tend to their farms.

A counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama said that an early damage assessment revealed that the successful operation led to the elimination of high-ranking commanders including Amir Shettima, Abou Hauwa (Munzir), Akura Buri (Nakif), Abou Idris, Abou Zainab, and their fighters. At different hideouts of the terrorists, the ground troops raid them and engaged them in a gun battle leading to the killing of many of the terrorists while others escape with bullet wounds.
