The nation’s investigation into the increase in electricity rates has been launched by the Senate Committee on Power.

The Senate has threatened to penalize any individual or organization found accountable for increasing the hardship and suffering of Nigerians.
The committee’s chairman, Senator Eyinnaya Ababribe, stated during the Monday investigation hearing that the investigation’s outcome depended on two motions that were made during plenary on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, and Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
He stated that the Committee on Power was directed by the Senate to “engage with the Federal Ministry of Power, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and other stakeholders” by means of its resolutions.
