NLC protest: Police warn hoodlums against hijacking protest

The Taraba State capital, Jalingo, has seen the deployment of heavily armed security personnel in key locations prior to the anticipated nationwide labor protest.

Police officers are stationed in places like the Ministry of Works roundabout, Palace Way, roadblocks, and FGCC Road, to name a few.

When contacted for comment, Abdullahi Usman, the spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, claimed the action is intended to stop thugs from hijacking the planned demonstration.

He claimed that all of the labor leaders had already had a conversation with the state commissioner of police.

The commissioner advised the labor leaders, he continued, “not to let hoodlums enter their midst during the protest.”

Usman claimed that the commissioner also forewarned the unions against holding the protest outside of their offices and that specific Jalingo roads should be avoided.

The demonstration had not started in the state as of the time this article was filed.
