Ogun Govt Renames Tai Solarin College Of Education After Awujale Of Ijebu
The Tai-Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ajose has been formally renamed the Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology (SACOETEC). The Ogun State Government has pledged that the institution will continue to be a College of Education with the mandate to prepare middle level teachers for the educational system.
When Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science, and Technology was officially unveiled, Governor Dapo Abiodun made the following statement: “Our administration will not relent in our effort to make the institution the envy of others in the country.”
The governor noted that the university will continue to offer its degree programs and space for science and technology courses notwithstanding the name change.
“We are gathered today to celebrate a milestone to a glorious future for this institution. Today, Tai Solarin College of Education will cease to exist and in its place, we now have Sikiru Adetona College of Education Science and Technology, Omu-Ajose.
“The college will remain a College of Education with a mandate to groom middle level teachers for our educational System. The college will continue to run its degree programmes in affiliation with universities.
“We will also be supporting the college in the area of infrastructure; in fact, very soon, we will commission the internal roads of the college and the road from Ala passing through Omu,” he said.
He announced that his administration would assist the college with infrastructure needs and that the road from Ala to Omu-Ijebu, which is currently undergoing reconstruction, would soon be opened.
Ijebuland has prospered under the Awujale, according to Abiodun, who also praised the ruler for founding the world-class International Institute of Governance at the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye on his own.
He commended the monarch for facilitating development initiatives into the state through his friends and associates, in addition to acknowledging the monarch for opening up the country to development.
