Open letter To Kwara state Governor His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq by HANAFI Abdulgafar Dare (Asejere)

Kwara State Government House
Ilorin, Kwara State
His Excellency, sir,
First and foremost, I would like to sincerely commend you on the ongoing infrastructural projects across Kwara State. Your leadership in this regard has positioned you as a beacon of modern development, and we are grateful for your commitment to enhancing the welfare of our state.
His Excellency, the center of my discussion today revolves around the zoning system, and I respectfully request your consideration in designating the governorship to Kwara North and the National Assembly seat to Moro Local Government in the upcoming 2027 elections.
As the esteemed philosopher Aristotle once stated, “Justice means equality, but equality of what?” We believe that true equality entails providing each zone with a fair opportunity to occupy positions of leadership.
Sir, as you are aware, Kwara State is constitutionally divided into three zones: Kwara South, Kwara Central, and Kwara North. By 2027, Kwara Central will have held the governorship for 20 years, and Kwara South will have enjoyed the seat for 8 years. Therefore, we respectfully urge you to allocate the governorship to Kwara North, as this aligns with principles of equity and fairness.
His Excellency, John Rawls aptly noted that “Justice is the first virtue of social institutions.” We are convinced that assigning the governorship to Kwara North and the National Assembly seat to Moro Local Government would be a just and equitable decision.
Furthermore, it is important to highlight that since the inception of the 4th Republic in 1999, Moro Local Government has not been represented in the senatorial seat. A breakdown of the senatorial representation reveals the following:
- Kwara North Senatorial District:
- Senator Baba Zuruk (Patigi LGA): 1999-2003 (4 years)
- Senator Ahmed Mohammad (Baruten LGA): 2003-2011 (8 years)
- Senator Mohammed Saha’ba Lafiagi (Edu LGA): 2011-2019 (8 years)
- Senator Sulaiman Sodiq Umar (Kaiama LGA): 2019-2027 (8 years)
- Moro LGA: 1999-2027 (NIL)
Similarly, the Federal House of Representatives has been largely dominated by Patigi and Edu Local Governments, with Moro Local Government remaining unrepresented. The historical representation is as follows:
-Moro/Edu/Patigi Federal Constituency (1999-Present):
– Late Engr. Hon. Yahaya Yunusa (Edu LGA): 1999-2007 (8 years)
– Late Hon. Aliyu B. Ahman Patigi (Patigi LGA): 2007-2019 (12 years)
– Hon. Ahmed Ndakene Abubakar: 2019-2023
– Hon. Dr. Adamu Ahmed Saba: 2023-present
In summary, while Patigi LGA has held the seat for 12 years and Edu LGA for 16 years, Moro LGA has yet to be represented.
His Excellency, given these considerations, we strongly believe that the time has come for Kwara North to assume the governorship position, and for Moro Local Government to secure a seat in the National Assembly.
As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. profoundly stated, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We sincerely appeal to your sense of fairness and justice in considering our request. We assure you that our gratitude will resonate through our community for your thoughtful decision.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
HANAFI Abdulgafar Dare (Asejere)
Jebba Ward, Moro Local Government
