Osun Assembly Reacts To Adeleke As He Removes Flag, Shuns State Anthem, Logo

In a statement issued by the head of the House Committee on Media and Publicity, Moshood Akande, the legislators insisted that notwithstanding Adeleke’s alterations to the name to “State of the Living Spring,” the State shall and will remain known as the “State of the Virtuous” (Ipinle Omoluabi).

Adeleke also skipped the state anthem at his campaign office when he installed the new appointments and took the state logo off the governor’s podium. The PDP flag was afterwards flown in place of the state flag at the government building.

The state legislature argued that using the national anthem, crest, and flag constitutes an enactment of law and is therefore required by law and not optional.

“The state of the Osun House of Assembly having studied the Governor’s inaugural speech and the activities of the inauguration hereby decides as follows;” The “State of Osun Anthem, Crest and Flag Law, 2012,” which was signed on December 18 and is included in Schedules I, Il, Ill, IV, and V, thoroughly outlines every provision of this law, is unambiguous.
