Pochettino slams Madueke, Jackson for fighting over penalty with Cole Palmer

The confrontation between Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Noni Madueke after a penalty in Chelsea’s 6-0 victory over Everton was described by manager Mauricio Pochettino as “a shame” and “a sad situation.”

After some back-and-forth between the three, Palmer won the spot kick, scoring his fourth goal of the match to put Chelsea ahead 5-0.

Unpleasant circumstances occurred at Stamford Bridge as Madueke and Jackson attempted to grab the ball from Palmer as Conor Gallagher handed it to the 21-year-old.

“It’s a shame, it’s a shame,” Pochettino said to Sky Sports following the match.

“We can’t act in this manner. I informed them that I would no longer put up with this kind of behavior.

Cole Palmer is the one who takes the [penalty]; I made that very plain to the fans and to everyone today.

Palmer is free to pass the ball to someone else, but not in this manner.

“I’m not going to accept that happening again; that was a really, really sad situation.”
