Police Arrest 61 Suspected Political Thugs, Recover Weapons

In an effort to clear the State of all sorts of criminality committed during political campaigns, the Kano State Police Command claims to have detained at least 61 alleged political thugs.
SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, the command’s spokeswoman, revealed the development in a statement.
The statement claims that the arrest took place on Wednesday, shortly after the state’s massive presidential campaign event for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to the PPRO, the arrest was made as a result of a command from Mr. Usman Alkali-Baba, the Inspector General of Police, who had earlier declared war on political thugs in order to ensure a peaceful election process in the upcoming months.
He said that on January 4th, “the suspects were apprehended during political campaign clearance operations carried out during a political activity at Sani Abacha Stadium Kano.”
According to him, the suspects had 33 knives, 8 cutlasses, 4 scissors, a bundle, and 117 wraps of what seemed to be Indian hemp.
Three bottles of Suck and Die, 500 Exol Tablets, and a collection of charms round out the other goods.
