Police capture a man in Enugu for the murder of a “sugar mummy”

In Enugu, police detained and charged 22-year-old suspect Chidubem Osuagwu for reportedly killing Amarachi Chukwu (32), his “sugar mama,” or older girlfriend, and taking her car.

This information was revealed in a statement made accessible to journalists in Enugu on Friday by Daniel Ndukwe, the state police spokesman.

According to Mr. Ndukwe, on November 8, Osuagwu was taken into custody at the Nekede axis of Owerri, Imo, by police detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu’s Homicide Section, who were assisted by police officers from Imo Command.

He claimed to be selling a Toyota Corolla that he had stolen from Ms. Chukwu after killing her on November 1 in her home in Meniru, Awkunanaw, within Enugu city.

Investigations found that the suspect and his accomplice, who are still at large, planned to break into the victim’s home on the specified day early in the morning and steal her Toyota Corolla key, but she refused.

When she resisted, they bound her hands, legs, and mouth with clothing, kept her locked inside the house, and drove off in the automobile.

However, on November 4, after receiving a report that an offensive odor was emanating from the flat, police officers working for the Ikirike Police Division of the Command pushed open the door and discovered her decomposing corpses inside.

Police officers transported the body’s remains to the hospital, where staff members pronounced her dead and deposited the body in the mortuary for preservation and an autopsy, the official said.

The suspect was arraigned in court following the completion of the investigation, according to the police spokesman, and held in the Enugu Custodial Center for further hearing of the matter.
