Police to Begin Going After Officers Who Extort Money from Road Users

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has said that it will soon reorganise its men to start going after officers who are extorting money from Nigerians.
This was made known by the Force Public Relations Officer, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja CSP Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi on his social media account while reacting to a report that some of their men in Agbor road bypass Benin city are harassing, extorting and checking the phones of those who pass through there.
Olumuyiwa said, “No problem. I will discuss this with the CPs of Edo and Delta. However, very soon we will reorganise and empower the X Squad and Monitoring Unit to go after the bad elements in the police.”
He said the X Squad will focus on extortion, improper dressing, and unruly attitudes of men of the force. He revealed that the date they will commence the move would be kept secret from officers so that those who extort Nigerians can be caught in the act.
He concluded by saying, “We need to inject sanity into road works and patrols across the country”.
