POR vs NGA: Match Preview, Team News And Kickoff Time
Nigeria will play Portugal in the first-ever full international between the two countries on Thursday, November 17, at the 50,000-capacity Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon.
In the first international meeting between the two, the three-time African champions will face the 2016 European Championship winners.
The match is Portugal’s final engagement before departing for Qatar on Friday, where they will begin their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign against Ghana on November 24.
The Super Eagles will not be in Qatar after narrowly missing out on qualification in the final playoff round thanks to Ghana’s Black Stars exploiting the away goal rule.
Portugal will be looking for a win over the Super Eagles before their World Cup opener.
With Nigeria on a three-match losing streak in friendlies under Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro, it could be a simple affair for the Europeans.
Peseiro has led the Eagles to defeats against Ecuador, Mexico, and Algeria, with Nigeria falling to Costa Rica last week under the direction of assistant coach Salisu Yusuf.
KICKOFF TIME: The match between Nigeria and Portugal will go down today at 7:45PM Nigerian time.
