Senegal 3-1 Qatar! Senegal Delivers Africa’s World Cup Win
Senegal have today bagged Africa’s World Cup win, putting the entire continent high on the map.
Even with the absence of talisman Sadio Mane, the Teranga Lions have kept their World Cup dreams alive following a 3-1 win against hosts Qatar.
The first half of the match saw both teams approach the game aggressively, having lost their opening matches. Senegal was playing hard to bring Africa’s first World Cup win while Qatar was trying to avoid the title of host nation eliminated from the tournament earliest in history.
However, the deadlock was broken in the 41st minute courtesy of Senegal’s Boulaye Dia who fired the first goal, putting the Teranga Lions in the lead.
Two minutes into the second half, Senegal punched the hosts in the mouth with a perfect header from Famara Diedhiou earning them a 2-0 lead.
Just as it seemed when Senegal was strangling life out of the Qataris, Mohammed Muntari cut the lead with a first goal for the host nation 74 minutes in. He scored only 4 minutes after being subbed in.
