The Farm Owner Paid N1.550 Million To Secure The Release Of The Farm Workers From Bandits – Resident
About 39 farm laborers under the age of 20 who were kidnapped by bandits in Katsina state have reportedly regained their freedom. Recall that the laborers were nabbed by the unscrupulous elements while working in a farm located at Mairuwa village in the Faskari Local Government Area of the state. It should be noted that residents of Katsina have been at the mercy of marauding bandits who attack without remorse.
Though the police confirmed the incident but were silent on whether Ransome was paid or not, nevertheless, a resident disclosed to the Daily Trust Newspaper that money exchanged hands before the abductees could regain their freedom. In his words, he said, “Yes, all praise be to Allah, the captives were released and returned home.”
There was negotiation, and the farm owner paid a sum of N1.5 million, while another sum of N50,000 was paid for the money used to feed the victims as demanded by the bandits, making a total of N1,550,000.”
