They didn’t explain new rule to us – Mikel Arteta reacts to Tomiyasu red card

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, believes that Takehiro Tomiyasu shouldn’t have received two yellow cards during Monday’s Premier League victory over Crystal Palace.

On Monday night at Selhurst Park, the Spaniard guided his team to a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

After Eddie Nketiah was hauled down in the area by Sam Johnstone, Arsenal scored from the penalty spot to take the lead.


Martin Odegaard, the captain of the Arsenal, converted the penalty kick.

However, Tomiyasu received a second caution for tugging on Andre Ayew’s shirt in the 67th minute.

Speaking after the game, Arteta said the “new rules” had been made up as they went along.

He declared, “I’m a fairly open guy, I comprehend anything.

The new rules are one thing. The new rules that I don’t know where they are and they haven’t communicated, that’s something very different

But we will adapt. Today we had to win it in this context and we’ve done it.”
