Three victims are freed in the Plateau as a 29-year-old woman disarms an AK-47-wielding captor

In the Barakin Ladi local government area of Plateau State, a 29-year-old woman named Miss Lucy Tapnang showed uncommon audacity and bravery by assaulting a group of kidnappers, taking away one of them’s AK-47, and releasing three captives.

Gunmen stopped and kidnapped some travelers last Tuesday at around 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Fulani and close to the Science School in Kuru, K-Vom in the state’s Jos South local government area, while they were traveling from Abuja to Mangu, according to DSP Alfred Alabo, a spokeswoman for the Plateau State Police Command.

“The Command promptly dispersed dragnets over the state after receiving this news. Bartholomew N. Onyeka, psc (+), the commissioner of police for the Plateau State Command, directed all police divisional headquarters under area commands to search the forest(s) under their jurisdictions in an effort to save the victims unharmed and catch the perpetrator.

According to him, “when carrying out the directive, Divisional Police Officer Barkin-Ladi, CSP Yusuf Data, led a team of police operatives to Kassa Forest, where they met the abducted victims through reliable information.”
