Twitter erroneously identifies Norwegian government officials as Nigerian ones
Tuesday, the top diplomats of the Scandinavian nation requested that Twitter stop identifying its top officials and organizations as being from the African nation.
Anniken Huitfeldt, the foreign minister of Norway, and her ministry’s verified Twitter accounts were all misrepresented as Nigerian government representatives or organizations on Tuesday.
The foreign ministry tweeted, “Dear @TwitterSupport, as much as we value our outstanding bilateral relations and close alphabetical proximity with Nigeria, we would really appreciate if you could classify us as Norway.
The users of the social network have laughed at the confusion.
So the people who have been sending everyone those letters about a deceased prince and advance payments have actually been Norwegians all along,” wrote one individual in regard to the “Nigeria letters.”
Another questioned, “Norgeria?”
The error had still not been fixed more than three hours after the request from the Norwegian foreign ministry.
