Victim of police killing not our student – KWASU
Ayeyemi Sulaiman, who was purportedly slain by police last Tuesday in the Tanke neighborhood of Ilorin, the state capital, was disowned as a student by Kwara State University’s administration.
Sulaiman was no longer a student of the university at the time of the regrettable incident, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, acting director of university relations.
“The administration of Kwara State University is obliged to respond to media reports that assert that Ilorin, the victim of a murder in the Tanke region, was a student at the university,” Saedat stated.
According to the university’s records, Aiyeyemi Sulaimon Olayinka has voluntarily left the department of statistics during the 2018–2019 academic year, while he was in 200 level.
The administration of Kwara State University expresses deep condolences to the deceased’s family and asks God to provide them the strength to cope with the loss.
Suleiman Olayinka, a 27-year-old student, was allegedly killed in the Tanke neighborhood of Ilorin. The Kwara State Police Command verified the incident, stating that the police were already aware of it and had taken appropriate action.
“The Kwara State Police Command is aware of this unfortunate incident which led to the sudden death of Suleiman Olayinka (M) 27 years ago,” stated Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, the command spokeswoman, after confirming the killing.
“The deceased was the subject of a criminal breach of trust and cheating accusation. Detectives from the police were dispatched right once to look into the matter.
According to Ejire-Adeyemi, a few police officers were apprehended and arrested in connection with the alleged murder. They were then placed on orderly chamber trial at the police headquarters.
Ejire-Adeyemi stated, “In the meantime, the officers involved in the incident have been identified, arrested, and detained for further investigations regarding the suspect’s death.”
