According to reports earlier today, Nyong Okon, also known as Eteka, was shot and killed on Idang Street in Calabar South, Cross River State. After a heated argument between neighborhood boys over the deceased’s girlfriend, police officers shot him after midnight on Monday.

The deceased apparently got into a heated argument with another young man after confronting him about an alleged elopement with his girlfriend. According to an eyewitness who also narrated the incident, the source said: “The deceased cried for help, saying that he was being pursued by armed robbers, as soon as he spotted a Police patrol squad.

The rest of them fled, but he held out when the police squad turned to face them. He started to run now instead of waiting to explain as the team drew nearer to him.

They claim that when he attempted to jump over a wall, the police opened fire at him. The bullet caught and scattered one of his arms. He fell into a banana trunk. But he did not die immediately. He yelled out later, panting and screaming for water before passing away after the police had later departed”.
