We’re exhausted – Mourinho reacts after losing first final

Following Wednesday night’s Europa League final penalty shootout loss to Sevilla, Roma manager Jose Mourinho praised his team for giving it their all.

Paulo Dybala gave the Serie A team the lead, but Gianluca Mancini’s own goal gave the opposition the equalizer late in the game.

At the conclusion of overtime, the score remained tied at one, necessitating penalties to decide the outcome.

Before Gonzalo Montiel scored the decisive penalty following a thrilling retake, Mancini and Roger Ibanez both saw their spot-kicks saved by Bono.

“We’re exhausted—physically, intellectually, and emotionally—because we believe this was an unfair defeat marked by numerous controversies.

I won five European finals, I lost this one, but I return home prouder than ever this time. The lads gave absolutely everything this season,” Mourinho told Sky Italia
