Why senators didn’t grill Wike — Akpabio

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has provided an explanation for why the senators decided not to question Nyesom Wike, the outgoing governor of Rivers State, during the screening of ministerial nominations.

Wike’s tenure under former President Goodluck Jonathan as a governor and a minister was mentioned by Akpabio.

After reading his brief biography and in response to a request from Senator Barinada Mpigi (PDP, Rivers), the former governor of Rivers was instructed to “bow and go.”

Wike was not fully interrogated, according to Akpabio, because of his history of serving as a minister.

When Wike was proposed as a minister by former President Goodluck Jonathan, he was alleged to have come before the Senate for screening.

There is no point in questioning him much because he has been nominated once more for a ministerial position, Akpabio stated.
