Gov Wike Vows To Resign If Anyone Proves He Promised Him Governorship Seat

Governor Nyesom Wike has stated that he will resign from his position if it can be demonstrated that he made a guarantee to another person that they would succeed him as governor of Rivers state.

This was said by the governor on Monday evening during a dinner and reception that was held in his honour to celebrate receiving the “Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery” from President Muhammadu Buhari. The award was given to him earlier that day.

Wike emphasized that he had never guaranteed the governorship seat to anybody else, citing the fact that power is something that belongs to God.

He said, “I have told my people that the source of power comes from God. There has never been a single day in which I sat with another person.

I dare anyone to say that I sat with him and promised him that he would become the Governor of Rivers. I accept the challenge.
